It would be difficult to sustain the popularity of contemporary music for today's children. As innovative as it sounds, this is not the first time that the contemporary music of the day was used to educate children. In fact, burned School House Rock this new territory in the 70s.
For my next article in this series I'll be old school. Write to educational websites without including one that is a salute to school Rock House would simply be wrong. Especially when you considerhow many children have learned from these short cartoons aired on Saturday mornings. School-house-rock.com is a free educational site tribute to this brilliant software boxes. The site has four main areas which represent four points through the School House Rock videos cover:
America Rock - This section will be music videos and pictures from the doctrine of creation and history of America and how the government works. My favorites are "The Preamble" and "I'mJust A Bill. "There are also lyrics and links to educational product.
Grammar Rock - This section includes music, text, images and video teaching the use of adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions, interjections, pronouns, verbs, nouns, prepositions, subjects and predicates. Favorites are "Conjunction Junction" and the verb is what is happening. "
Multiplication Rock - Music in this section teach multiplication with zero, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, eleven and twelve. As for the other sections, there are some screenshots and text.
Science Rock - Here, children can find music, text and images on the teaching body of electricity, the solar system, different sources of energy and gravity.
The site also offers free software, a home-school rock history, news and a shop.
A disadvantage of this site is that it is the true function of cartoons is the music. But you and the kids should enjoy it anyway. I reallysomeone would want to bring back the cartoons. Although they were out of date. The fact that I still recite the preamble to the Constitution by heart a demonstration of how children learn when classes are set to music and how long you can keep information.
